    2005 Grand Marquis Intake Replacement

Thought you guys may be able to help. Repair shop said my intake manifold was leaking coolant and needed to be replaced. They quoted me nearly $1300.00. That seemed awfully high. I was thinking about purchasing the parts myself and have the very good local guy do the work rather than the dealer. What do you think? Here are the parts I picked out. I'd rather do OEM parts rather than aftermarket

I had a 2005 Grand Marquis and the same thing happened to mine. The replacement isn't that hard. I didn't even have to remove the valve covers to do it. If the cost is the issue, have a local guy do it who will guarantee his work

Chris Fix has a YouTube channel and did a manifold on a 4.6 Mustang GT. It is straightforward and although it seems overwhelming - it's really not bad.

Should be about 2 hours for the average joe.

Not a bad job at all. My very first one took me 4 hrs, second one 2.5 hrs. Hardest part is the bolt holding the crash bracket on the rear drivers side head, other than that easy peasy. My first one i labeled everything with masking tape and took pics as I went. American muscle and amazon are really close in price on the ford racing intakes.

where does it leak? I had a 2000 MGM, did that one, took a couple of hours, I thought the issue was the alternator bracket mounting boss insert cracked the Nylon 6 material..there's a
new weak spot? Got an '06 now....

Did it myself. $60 used but great oem part, and a couple hours of time. Not difficult.
