    Axle woes...

Looks like I'll need to replace my axle....Does anyone know if these are unique to the Marauder or will a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis axle work? I heard they might be different due to our air bags vs coil springs on the Vics.

    Does anyone know for sure?

    Thanks all!

    They are the same axles.
    You can look on http://tascaparts.com/
You can select different cars and years to compare part numbers.
they changed to a 31 spline axle in 2005. Those will not fit without upgrading both axles and the carrier. The 03 & 04 and going back many years were 28 spline.

car-part.com. Any 2003 and up axle is fine, after mid year 2005 they went to 31 spline axles. The hard part is finding. 3.55 ratio worthy of buying. Makes zero difference if springs or air bags. What's wrong with yours? Maybe you need to find another mechanic

BTW when you say axle do you mean one of the actual axles themselves or do you mean the whole rear end is giving problems?

You could have bought repair bearings for a leaking axle seal / worn axle. I just bought 4 for 2 different cars on rock auto for about 40.00 shipped.

The repair bearing relocates the area the bearing rides and where the seal seals on the axle.

Rock auto axles are about $50.00 - $100.00 each

the 06, 31 spline axles i pulled from a marquis are noticeably thicker than the 28 spline. They are from every account I have come across great value for the money if not damaged and capable of holding power for the majority of moderately upgraded street machines.

I didn't bother with the aftermarket 31's because guys break those too seemingly often.

I just disassembled my rear end completely, and am waiting to get it back from powder coat to start assembly. PM me anytime.
