    Electrical Issues

I am having some serious electrical issues. I replaced the LCM with 2 differant units so I don't think it is that. My dash lights and interior lights are out on the inside. Keeps blowing fuse 23. Ac goes out with it. Have checked the sun visor and I did some trouble shooting on it and cant figure it out. My mechanic looked at it and cant figure it out. Neither of us have an extensive knowledge of electrical system. I took it to the Ford dealership which i did not want to do and they cant figure it out either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Im lost on this

Unpin the wires from fuse, check for short to ground on the wires

Start unplugging associated connectors until no more short to ground.

Remove bad wire and replace it

Disconnect everything that is connected to that fuse.

Install a new fuse, if fuse still blows then it's a wiring issue, need to trace all those wires.

If it doesn't blow then reconnect one thing at a time until the fuse blows. The last circuit connected that blows the fuse is the bad one. Trace and repair it.

No other way to do it.

    Fuse #23 controls

EATC - that's why the A/C goes off

    Instrument cluster

    LCM

    Interior lamps

    Door lock switches

Has any work been done to the car that involves any of those parts?

Want to get rid of any of your LCM's?

Start your PD with disconnecting the following:

    Instrument cluster
    LCM
    EATC
All the interior lamps (overhead console, front foot wells & rear reading lights)
    Door lock switches

Wish you were closer... I'd like to take a look at this.

Check the connection at the rear view mirror. The automatic dimmer wires
kept blowing my fuse. It finally stated to smoke so I was able to figure out the problem.

Fuse #23 does not supply power to the day / night mirror. That would be fuse #16.

So I figured it out! It was the engine bay light on the underside of my hood. It was rubbing against the elbow of my air intake going into the throttle body and had rubbed the wire where it was making contact. No more rub and replaced wiring and I am back in action. Thanks to everyone for there input and positive advice.

Electrical problems can be a beotch to track down, even with the factory wiring diagram, but sometimes it's a simple stupid thing. Glad you found it!
