    Eatc help

I have been reading the sticky on the I ring replacement but would like to know how to pull the eatc out. Does the plate around it just pop off? Also how do you test to see if there is vacumm? I have some mechanical skills just like to know as much as I can before I dive in.
    Thanks in advance

The above should help, good luck with the repairs (you should be very pleased with the results).

The trim around the EATC which goes all the way to the passenger side comes off. You open the passenger door. Grab the right side of the trim. Start to pull. Work your way toward the steering wheel.

Don't be intimidated about the EATC o-ring repair. I've even done it.

Ok Thanks I just ran the test to see if there was any error codes and got the 888. Now with the vacumm testing does that need to be done or can I just replace all the o rings becuase I dont have a vacumm guage and have never used one. Not to comfortable with it also.

Well, when I did mine, I had no codes to begin with. Would only blow through floor and defrost. Did the repair and all was good for a few years....until the blend door actuator went out I never checked any vacuum lines so maybe others can instruct you on that.

    To remove EATC:
Tools: 7mm socket or nutdriver & 10mm socket or nutdriver.
    1. Open passenger side door.
    2. Grasp the center dot matrix trim and pull towards you.
    3. Continue to work the center trim loose all the way to the steering column.
    4. You can unplug the rear defroster switch or leave it connected.
    5. Remove the four(4) 7mm screws holding the EATC in the dash opening.
    6. Disconnect the three(3) electrical connectors.
    7. Remove the two(2) 10mm nuts holding on the vacuum hose connector.
    8. To reinstall just reverse the removal procedure.

    Just replace the o-rings.

Has anyone found the o rings at advance orielys or autozone. That way I don't have to order the ones from the previous article.

Not the ones you'll want for a long term fix of the EATC problem.

PM 03mmmonroe, he may have a few extras he'd be willing to part with.

Ace Hardware has them, but they're not silicone.

They're -007 o-rings, which can be found in a variety of places. The issue is most of them are either Viton or Buna-N (nitrile) and will simply deteriorate just like the originals. You really need silicone if you don't want to have to do the job twice.

I will be at Jones Ford in North Charleston SC. on Monday to repair another member EATC unit and show my Dealer how to repair them to give their customers options.
