Thread: 2000 Grand Marquee DOHC conversion **DUW**

2000 Grand Marquee DOHC conversion **DUW**

Here is the 2000 GM we took in Monday, the owner found a 03 Marauder engine with low miles and bought it, he had the engine shipped to us, it came in a first class shipping crate, complete engine with all the accessories and wiring harness.

So Steve and Edwin have already removed the old motor, it had 90 K on the clock and still ran well with no smoke, we are installing a 03 Marauder DOHC motor, in its place, so far I we will have to use his old oil pan, thats no problem, we are installing a PI 3000 stall converter, new Cobra exhaust, Dyno tech drive shaft, a new Ford posi with 410 gears.

I also have a old K&N cold air kit off of the 03 Marauder we are doing at the same time with a Vortech no IC unit, so Steve and Edwin are hard at it, I will post more pictures later on, if you look ate the Marauder wheels, you can see the spacers required to clear the front and rear calipers, but the car looks great and this will for sure make the car fun to drive, later on the owner will beef up the shocks and add Addco front and rear sway bars.

I don't think that will effect his ET, and it sure will not look like that when we are done

I could swear I saw that car on ebay just recently. I remember that he had the wheels on it with spacers.

I think I saw this car in the parking lot as we were boarding the Nina's dandy at MV-V.
I think the owner mentioned that he was going to show up.

It is mine

Blackened300a has figured it out that this is my car that Dennis is working on. Here we are doing car talk at the dock. He has good memory considering that we only talked for about 3mins. I can't even remember his name

No, mine was never on ebay. I want my GM to be a "tuner car" since I can't afford a Marauder.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

It is not the elusive "white Marauder" that I keep hearing about. That person had MM rims & trunk lid spoiler on theirs for about a year before mine.

It is very hard to keep it clean as I drive about 16,600 miles a year as my daily driver. I have to go down a one mile long, often oil & stone covered road four times a day. This is also the same road that I hit the rock sticking up at the roadside as it is very narrow. Time to lose this shortcut.

I will be using my car more as a fair weather car when I get it back. As long as my beater car keeps going So, once Dennis and his crew remove the pound or so of dust and possibly some stones, it will stay clean for a very long time. It may even reduce the ET by miniscule amount?

I'm looking forward to the final results.

Good luck with that!!! I would like to go that route someday with my '03 CVPI when/if that motor ever goes. I would do the motor, wheels, and spoiler on the CVPI. Then have that as a daily driver and the '04 MM as a toy/fun car. I miss the MM power, handling, and ride when I am driving the CVPI.

Dennis & his crew seems to be very talented. I'm not there, so any pics while in process will come from him.
I will post pics once finished, especially one of me smiling behind the wheel.

Good Luck on the swap. I actually had no idea that you owned the car. I remember you asking me who had a Kenny Brown S/Ced car and as we were leaving the dock I saw your car in the lot.
Nice meeting you and If your conversion turns out anything like John Kuhn's. You'll have a very potent Grand Marquis.

Eric,

Your '03 should go pretty smooth since it is the same frame & suspension as the Marauder. "2ndMDRebel" has an '03 with the DOHC in it. Looks like he has a sweet set up by looking at his ET.

If it turns out like John's, my wife will never want to drive it! Well, that can be a very good thing for me though!
I'd love to have his results, but I think that he has a little more invested in his to get those results than I will have in mine. He was a very pleasant fellow, very helpful in his suggestions when I spoke to him and his wife.

So, what is your name again? How did you do at the track?
