OK,.. since 2003 Marauder VINs are not sequential. Lets put the last 6 digits of our VIN and build date (if known) so we can kinda figure out 'where' we are in the build order.

Total production, 03 and 04 was 11,052

Black exterior. (As of June 2004):
1059 with charcoal interior, 842 have CD changers, 873 have heated seats.
147 with flint interior, 105 have CD changers, 100 have heated seats.
Dark Toreador Red exterior. (As of June 2004):
565 with charcoal interior, 457 have CD changers, 505 have heated seats.
398 with flint interior, 293 have CD changers, 270 have heated seats.
Silver Birch exterior. (As of June 2004):

JWM im in massapequa on LI which is 3 towns over from lindenhurst but in a diff county. i used to go to a small car show out there and see a marauder occassionally. maybe this was yours cause i dont see it anymore. Guys seemed to take god care of it, somehwat older man.

Thanks PD...car I have was registered to a guy in Lindenhurst, NY for about the last 2 years (have his name/street but not nice to post online I'm sure).

Story from the dealer (L&B) was previous owner bought in/about 12/03 and traded in last summer because he was lucky enough to have twins (well his wife anyway) and needed a Mountaineer. His loss is my gain (only had 5 cars to look up within 75 miles). Turns out I found a nicely kept gem with 23K on the OD.

Now my wife is worried this car is gonna curse (bless) us with twins...karma stuff I guess. Hey, only prerequisite for me on this purchase was that baby seat(s) fit in the back (and easier than a Mustang GT I was pining over)....not that I'm going to. Already found a small cache of 'stuff' under the back seat when I had it out. That's for another car we have. BUT, I do recall a picture of me way back when hanging out the window of my parents '68 Mustang Fastback (with the "GT" package and a 289)....so I guess kids in a hot car runs in the family...

How do I find the Build date?

I am one of the 147 with the Light Flint interior. I contacted Ford Motor Company (FMC) on this and I think they are BSing me. I advised them I was in a Marauder club and we really were interested in the production numbers, colors, options etc. and FMC said they didn't have the information. I told them this is impossible. Don't they have build sheets that accumulate the information? Haven't they heard of an excel spreadsheet that can capture the data? Very disappointed with their answer.

I found a sticker on the firewall hand written with the numbers 2756, and also on the vin stickers on the fenders and trunk lid there is a number that corresponds with those numbers 2756 . The number is on the sticker above the vin. Check and see if any on else has numbers there.:)

Your build date is one month after mine and some 8,500+ on the VIN number. More evidence that MMs were not sequential and interspersed with the Gran Marquis on the line at about the rate of 1 MM per 25 GMs.

Well it's good to be back. Don't tell anyone but I've been street racing undercover for the Compartment of Homeland Insecurities for the last year. Basically, I would crush anything on the roadways with a wing, and make fun of the drivers until they felt really really insecure. Results were oustanding, we busted up a huge fake wing manufactuing plant, and shut down a major racing sticker manufacturing plant that was using hallucinogens in thier glue. After licking and sticking 10 pounds of them on thier rice-mobiles it would give the driver an overwhelming and utterly false sense of being able to "fly down the road". Tragic, huh? Have you talked to John Kuhn (John's Stereo: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=76 ) about the swap? The pre-2003 chassis and a 4.6 4V engine is not an easy match. It seems the non-die cast front X-member is the main problem.

Sounds like you have a 2003 Marauder 300A, Map pockets on the fronts of both seats, center clock, no sun roof, No traction control, adjustable pedals, no cd changer in the trunk, and a full size spare...Sound about right?
Roy could tell you where it came from, who the selling dealer was, if there were warranty issues, or repairs, and when the warranty start date was.

I believe you are correct. I've tried to keep my eyes open for any more 4PP Marauders, but without much luck. I wonder what happened to all of them?

Mine is 600051, and I think it was built the day after your son's car. I don't have the frame or axle housing stickers, but in the glove box, there was this tag from the company that returned my 4PP to "production standards".

OK,.. since 2003 Marauder VINs are not sequential. Lets put the last 6 digits of our VIN and build date (if known) so we can kinda figure out 'where' we are in the build order.

While I do have the first 2003 Marauder sold, it was the 82nd regular production car built. I was told by someone who would know that Bob Tasca (famous east coast Ford dealer and racer) got the first regular production car built. Keep in mind that there were also about 25 pre-production cars built. Several of their owners are on this site. There is also the orginal SEMA car that was likely crushed. So there are several different "first" Marauders. It depends on what you're talking about.

It seems that the these lists were made up as a "labor of love". This means that the info can look to be correct when in fact that mistakes are hidden until discovered. This has happened. A member here asked for his MMs sequence numbers and I gave them to him thinking his car was DTR. I got a reply back saying "Thanx but my MM is SB." This got me thinking. The paint codes for SB and DTR are JP and JL, respectively. This can be confusing when this list was originally created. In fact, several more were found to be wrong and have since been corrected. I also fixed the moonroof and color sequence numbers, too.

The official numbers for the 2004 Model year are as follows:
black=1237
SB=993
DTR=983
2000 are w/o the moonroof option
1213 are w/ the moonroof option

Those whose MMs are before VIN#653013, your color and moonroof numbers are correct. If they are after this VIN, PM me for your updated ones.

I dont know what 300A or 300B means, Im new so please help

I am no expert but, in 2003 the 300A had front seat pockets, clock on dash trim, remote gas door, full-size spare. The 300B did not. Also, I believe the 2003 300A did NOT have traction control, not sure on this though.
In 2004, the 300A was the same as the 2003 300B.

You can't tell by the VIN alone. The driver door sticker will give you a month and year only. To get the exact date, you have to contact "RoyLPita" or call FPG and order the Certificate of Limited Production.

Two options here:

1. PM RoyLPita with your VIN and he can get you an "unoffical" date and sequence number. It will be very close to Ford's numbers, but may be off one or two in sequence based on when the car was built vs when it ordered.

2. Contact the Ford Performance Info Center, and order up a "Mercury Marauder Certificate of Authenticity." This will be the "official" number from Ford's actual production records.

According to Roy L Pita and the list kept by Mary, this is the earliest Matauder in the club.

It was a pre-production car -in Ford speak a 4PP car - owned by FoMoCo for the first 5990 miles (big guy company car?). I still have the bright red pre-production stickers that were on the frame and the rear axle.
