Did you do a mechanical throttle cable instead of the electronic

So you don't have adjustable pedals now?
blkZooM
10-28-2016, 10:49 PM
I believe the car still does, only thing he most likely change out was the gas pedal to work the DBW that the coyotes utilize.
96gt4.6
10-29-2016, 07:11 AM
It did not, however it was only due to the fact I never did get around to installing the adjustable pedal. The F150 has an adjustable pedal assembly, and Ford never did change the drive cable connection/type. I originally used a Mustang pedal which is non-adjustable, however the Coyote F150 pedal would have worked just fine, and retained the adjustable function. I had the pedal, but never did get it changed out before I sold the car.

cool man, im in the process of doing a coyote swap on my marauder with a holley dominator and 4r70w trying to do my homework. thanks. best price on acc swap is pbh im assuming
96gt4.6
10-29-2016, 11:50 AM
At the time I did this swap, yes. The PBH kit was outstanding for the swap as pictured in my pics. the Marauder's Scroll compressor works with the PBH kit, you do not need the FX4 compressor as they state. It does require some minor modification to the bolts, but it does work just fine.

96gt4.6 I've been wondering, is it possible for us older 4v guys to do what some GT500 who are running the 6r80 have done by switching over to a Coyote auto ECM to control the 6r80? It's been proven that the Coyote ECM is able to control a non VVT engine in the 5.4L, I see no reason it couldn't control a 4.6L. The GT500 do have can-bus technology but only for their instrument cluster, abs module and SJS and audio unit and (SJB not sure what that is).
We know PATS can be disable from the ECM, is it also possible to disable the other things we don't have nor need (Abs,BCM ect) and still run the 6r80 trans?

My car already has a CAN BUS system, so this is intriguing....

I would venture to guess that using the Coyote ECU would be possible in those situations, but I would need to reference some things to verify.
Essentially that's the same thing I did with the Marauder on one hand. I disabled all the codes not needed and kept only the engine/transmission control items. Being as the Cluster on most modern vehicles simply grabs all it needs from the CAN BUS, the gauges should work.
However, I have a feeling you would get a host of other warning indicators, and i'm not sure if the Coyote ECU will play nice with everything entirely in a modern vehicle swap such as that. Could be totally wrong on this one though, i'm sure there is someone out there that is work on or trying it though, the 6R80 is a brute and can take serious power and not even care. Shifts like a kitten around town, kills the tires at 1/2 of total available line pressure (at least on this build it did!). Lots of growing room for power in those transmissions.

Gates part numbers for the upper and lower hoses. You will need to modify both. On the lower, I used 1/2 of the original Marauder's lower hose along with a plastic hose coupler. Look through my pic album to see how it was modified:
Upper - Gates# 22144
Lower - Gates# 21585

You will need to modify the key way on the orange connector/mating connector as it clocks the outlet in the wrong direction. The orange connector came with the OEM 2012 F150 radiator hose, I believe it was the lower hose radiator side connector, but it's been too long.

That looks like a very good alternative for a 6R swap controller. It's a good trans, and now that they are starting to support it in the aftermarket, only good things will come. I just looked through the install manual for that controller, it's the cat's me-ow by what I can see. Fully programmable, has VSS out, and many other goodies!
And, of course, just as I had been preaching from the beginning, they also state that the 6R80 is capable of near 1k hp in stock trim with only programming.
She's a stout unit, and you will love the 6 speed side of life once you have one.

Not so bad......built 4R75W will run 3K or more easily and a 6R680 in stock forum in my buddies 2011 GT car is all stock with 922 RWHP!
You get better gear multiplication, you can now go WOT in higher gears unlike the 4R75W which will only go WOT to thrid gear, now you can drop the rear gear back down to a 3:55.
WIN WIN to me.

I Agree.
$1200 for controller.
850ish for driveshaft.
$550-1100 for a 6R80 (F150 version) (if you pay more you aren't looking hard enough)
maybe $300 in miscellaneous parts.
The converter isn't needed right away either especially if you have a PD blower.
and you put it in yourself?
Money well spent knowing you have 2 more gears a trans that can damn near take on anything you can throw at it in its stock form and the pluses that Hotford mentioned. This has potential to be best mod dollar wise for anyone with a ford who doesn't have a 6R80 I think. Ford outdid themselves with this trans that is for sure.

For the most part I agree with your comments except there is no reason or benefit to go wot past 3rd gear which is a 1:1 ratio anything beyond 3rd gear is pointless as there overdriven gears.

I REALLY want to Eco-Boost 3.5L swap whatever comes next.
I'm thinking a 10R80/Eco would be tits. Considering my '15 5400 lb Crew Cab 4x4's performance tune-only (6-speed auto still).
This is with an out-of-the-box tune, which appears to be very safe by the data/boost level's I am seeing:
http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q651/Alan_Ledesma/2015%20EcoBoost%20F150/20160902_235146_zpsksfqdlu9.jp g
Just the numbers from this setup alone in a lighter vehicle would be impressive, and that's all stock less tune. 3.31 gears/20" wheels and all. The little 6 bangers are very impressive.

I'm currently running a hybrid of my own tuning blend, however that slip was with SSI's 93 Octane Level 2 tune. They now have about 4 revisions better i'm told, but never went any further as I ran out of time last season with the track closing for the end of year.
I also have Unleashed Performance tunes for it. All seem to perform very well, with each it's own style of pedal feel.

The Torque is unreal on these little guys. That's a 1.7 60'.......on a 5400 lb 4x4 Crew Cab with 3.31 ratio and 20" wheels.
That's faster than most modified race cars achieve, with a lot more weight.
They claim 600+ FT/LB at the rear wheel on this tune, a shade over 400 HP.
Fastbob

Put that tune into a Ford F-150 Tremor regular cab with the factory 4:11 gear and it might run in the 12s.

12's is very doable on these from what I have seen, but never done personally. This is on Race Gas and the supporting tune. Same pickup as mine less 3.55's:

The problem with Eco is really once you turn up the boost, and get good fuel in them, you are limited by the turbo size and high pressure pump system from making more power, and they are quite expensive to mod from there. But, at close to 450ish RWHP and 650+ TQ like this truck would need to get those numbers, that's pretty impressive for sure....

I bought an '11 3.5 EB F150 that I then tuned ... stupid quick, but was returned due to electrical issues.
Now have a '15 3.5 EB. I want to tune it ... but it came with a 125K bumper to bumper warranty and a 100K maintenance plan thrown in ... if I can keep the mod bug away. I have had it for a little over 8 months and it currently has just shy of 17K miles. At the current rate, I will need to not mod the truck for 4.5 years ... ugh.
I have not taken it to the track either ... do not want to find out that officially it is faster than the Marauder. :D

I get the thread reply emails, and peek over here from time to time :).
On the pedal, actually.....neither. Although I wanted to keep the OEM functionality of the adjustable pedals, I ended up using a Mustang pedal and losing the adjustable pedals.
If one were to put a little time and effort into the pedals, I don't see why the adjustable part wouldn't work, although the GM pedal would probably have to be modified as far as the APP sensor goes, I believe the Coyote's pedal sensor was different as far as how it functioned electrically, but it's been a while since I have looked in the manual to compare.
The OEM pedals on the Marauder unfortunately had the 'froze' issue they they seem to suffer from, and I just never got around to fixing/retrofitting it all like I had wanted.

I still need to get around to repairing/moving all of those photobucket pictures....that really sucks what they did to that hosing website! It's going to be a lot of work.....
Just an update, I have since been working on a new project.
I now have a 2017 Mustang GT, and am currently adding a Whipple 2.9L Gen3 kit to. Supposedly 700+RWHP is an easy number on pump gas with these setups....we shall see!

Photo bucket images should work now. They fired the ceo and reinstated previous photos (just have a big watermark on them now).
I still can't my speedometer to work in my MM lol. Been trying to find the old style Dakota box VS the new style to try.

Daydreaming....I thought I wanted a Terminator Marauder w/4R70W. Oh my goodness, a stock gen 2 Coyote 6R80 or a stock gen 3 10R80 has taken hold...

PM me please, I have looked but I lost it......would love to shoot him a text! Thank You!
Invective, that would be awesome. The 10R is a great trans, and a GEN3 Coyote can throw down big HP without opening anything up internally.
I'm super impressed even with this GEN2 setup I have that is entry level.
I do miss my Marauder though.......a lot. I knew due to the circumstances of how I acquired it, that it would never happen again given the rarity of those cars and how hard they are to come by in decent shape.
Miss my big 4 door, esp with a kiddo now :), although we have a great family friendly vehicle, but it doesn't have 8 cylinders and a turbo!

I know he put a bigger turbo on it and Ridetech front coil overs. I think it was near 800 hp. It's somewhere in the forum.

I mean if you want to re-create the magic, I have a roller I'll be listing for sale real soon.
I also have a friend looking to coyote/6r80 swap a 87 colony park wagon who was reading your build thread for ideas.

When you say roller, what does that exactly mean? Is it only missing the engine and transmission? What year? What color? How many miles?

Yes, a roller generally implies no driveline. This'll have no engine/trans. PM me if you want details.
