I couldn't figure this guy out. He wanted under carriage pics. Great! I drove it to town, put it up on the hoist and got 'em. Then he wanted a mechanic inspection because he was 'fraid of an expensive repair bill in the first year. Fair enough.

He then asked what other offers I'd gotten on it. When I gave him a laughably low lowball I'd received he added 25% to that.

His plan was to have a truck drive up from Illinois and have that guy haul it back to Illinois....sight unseen.

I don't know who the hell buys a 15 year old Marauder sight unseen. Red flags went up. He's just 5.5 hours from my house. Why wouldn't he want a look at it before buying it? The whole thing sounded fishy.... as if I'd be left trying to cash a bad check while his buddies hauled my car away, and so I told him I had to think about it. He then went off the handle about how what a great offer he made and how fast it would be gone.

I let him know exactly what I thought him, his plan to come get my car and his attitude.

Within minutes(!) his follow-up e-mail included a strong hint at a legal matter from my past. Apparently he'd been doing some snooping on me and it felt to me as if he was gonna try and extort/black mail some money off the price.

Yes, seriously. He'd done a background check on me and threw that in my face when I didn't accept his offer! I'm not sure if I'm going to refer this for prosecution or not. Since this crossed state lines there could be Federal charges involved too. I still have the e-mail chain and it sure doesn't make him look very good.

I've been through similar things in the past. That guy got sued and currently owes me a pile of money.

I'm not going to name the guy. I suggest this guy tread very, very lightly. He is on thin ice. These days I've got the means to defend myself.

Some people will do anything for a Marauder. Lol. Never thought someone would pull a stunt like this though.

Received a serviceable COT from a FB seller today; don't know if he's on here or not - in Chicagoland area. A neighbor experienced with refinishing automotive parts (and building cars from the ground up) is dropping by to take a look at it. $150 plus $25 shipping. Beginning to gather 'difficult to find parts' as spares.

If anyone wants a supercharged Marauder with almost every upgrade from built trans to SW headers and exhaust to suspension work to every single system new or rebuilt, including cosmetic items, new refurbished OEM wheels, completely babied, WAY, WAY too much to list, first place show winner, 151k miles would pass for 51k miles, for $20k FIRM, no BS, send me a PM. The car runs perfect and is a beast. You get what you pay for. I will send you a list of all the **** I've done to it. It's endless.

On the rat bike in the last week:

Finally came up with a mounting idea with the rear fender to float with the back tire.

Added air pod filters to rid the overly huge air box.

Rewired the whole bike front to back and simplified it.. I took it from 49 wires!?! to 13...! And really all I eliminated was the horn, flash to pass, automatic signals, kill switch, and the ignition switch.

Hidden kill switch added/key switch delete

I made a small dash board and fitted it with push button start, LED’s for turn indicators, oil, hi beam, and neutral, a couple of simple toggles for hi beam/low beam on the right, and L/off/R on the left.

New drag bars, controls, and grips.

Freehand lettering with a sharpie LOL

And finally got around to fixing the dent in the fuel tank.

More to come! I’m thinking forward foot controls are in order next. [emoji1303]

I had the exterior, door jambs & engine compartment of the Marauder professionally detailed 2 weeks ago for a car show & it looked real nice. Also replaced the IAC valve {idle air control}to solve an occasional stalling while braking to a stop & a low idle speed while parked or when stopped at a light/traffic sign. It's working as it should & a piece of cake to replace on the upper throttle plenum.

Well, not today but last Sunday and Monday, with tips from Bob and other guys here: pulled the COT and sanded it out lightly to remove some bubbled paint and rust, then repainted it with semi-gloss high temp paint. Reinstalled with new o-rings

Replaced the oil filter housing gasket, then new coolant and oil of course.

After assembly oil sending unit started leaking so ordered a replacement which I’m installing after work today.

Removed the idle air valve off the throttle body to get access, and replaced the throttle position sensor, which stopped the engine surging I had been experiencing.

Removed my Metco / PHP CAK and reinstalled the stock air box because I have to get it smogged this week. Reflashed the tune to stock for the smog check. I have to drive it for a few days until the Scangauge reports “No codes found, READY,” or they won’t smog it. (I hate CA.)

Removed the ABS module and sent it to Module Repair Pro; total cost with shipping was $111, and hopefully they can fix it.

Ordered a new blend door actuator, and doing a bunch of reading here to try and learn how to install it. (Not sure if I should do the EATC o-rings at the same time, but going to order some just in case.)

I'm a day late so I'll title this 'Clean Car Thursday'. Marauder went to my favorite cleanup/detail shop for its periodic hand wash - wipedown - vacuum and lite detailing. $25 + $10 tip for putting up with ole picky me - they do a great job. Hurricane Dorian was over 200 miles away; we got a breeze and some clouds. Drove some local errands afterwards - picked the depicted cassette from my collection for this trip. This demo tape was included with the sale when we bought our new 1988 Ranger. Tape mastered well above average and I love '80s 'adult contemporary' music - played really well in Marauder. Truly a delightful automobile.

Yesterday, Marauder had new spark plugs installed for the first time since new (just under 48k miles at present). NGK 4177 TR6. Compression checked also. #4 (rear passenger side) down to 150 psi and the rest at 175 psi. Operates better than anytime in recent memory. Idle quality restored. Still haven't found source of 'rattle can' noise - appears to be temperature related as the noise lasts longer the cooler it is outside before going away. Sounds like a piece of gravel rolling around in a wheel.

Mine has been locking up for three years now. It’s only locking up the first 15 minutes when cold and only on take off from a light. So I quickly learned green light equals A/C off, gas down, and pop the clutch, 2nd gear turn back on because lazy.. [emoji6]

The front grille one is too small for the grille cut out and You have to modify the mounting spot to lay it flat, the trunk one You will have to bend to lay flat. Make sure the neck of the fireman is str8 down on both when mounting. I honestly hate those emblems. Nice quality material and how they are made tho. Enjoy!

Funny, that’s what I did yesterday, along with fix the drivers side door actuator, but I doubt it looks as good as yours! We’re way down to a bargain $3.60 on gas.

I was shocked to find the paint on the top of the drivers side mirror starting to peel. On careful inspection, I also found rust (and no paint at all) in the bottom of both roof drain channels over the rear doors.

Finally, I found that the door edge guard on the passenger rear door has rubbed the metal clean over a 2” spot on the wheel well of the passenger rear. I pulled off the door channel and the problem is the door is too tight there.

Don’t know if I can adjust the hinges. All this time I never noticed. The car needs to be painted; the black has always looked like **** from day 1. God knows what that will cost; been 30 years since I painted a car.

But, on the other hand, it’s running great now. [emoji6][emoji1531]

Well I had a few small items I wanted to address this early spring but with this Chinese gift and now not working they’ll have to go on the back burner. Who knows, maybe this is finally my excuse for selling off since I’ve never really had a good reason besides boredom?

But sometime soon:
1)Rear tires (this is by FAR the longest lasting set I’ve had! I think over 6 years now?!)
2)Front brake conversion (I’ve only had the Jerry/Zack kit now for several years and the brakes have only been pulsating for 2-3 years or so but I’m never much in a hurry anymore..)
3)Make a new 3” H pipe with V band clamps and new Mufflers. (I never could stand the full S.W. sound)
4)Make a new 3 1/2” aluminum pipe from the blower to the inter cooler to clean up the dents from the F1-A implosion a few years ago and to move the Big Red valve to hopefully quiet that annoying sound of a severed shop air line down a tad!

So mostly some needed maintenance and small cheap changes. Other than that I think it fired up in under two full revolutions this year and hasn’t given a bit of attitude other than zero traction on the perfectly worn down to absolutely nothing Nitto 420’s. SKETCHY!

Heads up and Update: Signed up for Vimeo 'Plus' package on March 12th. Price? $84. Credit Card/Pay Pal won't be charged until the end of the 30 day trial period (it's in writing on the sign up page) - I used Pay Pal. Uploaded a Marauder video I made with my iPhone about my pending car sale. Attempted to link to the video and the link was dead. Troubleshooting was inconclusive so I immediately cancelled my subscription on line and gave my reason. No email confirmation on sign up, cancellation or anything else until much later. No email confirmation from Pay Pal either - very strange. I was dinged for $84 the next day, the 13th. No live support at Vimeo, only web support. Only one response out of Vimeo and only very recently 'Your account has indeed been cancelled'. Disputed the charge with my bank - awaiting a resolution.

Update: Vimeo issued a full refund yesterday.

Removed StainlessWorks x-pipe and replaced it with a Magnaflow Tru-X muffler. Quieted the exhaust down a bit, still loud but much more tolerable at part throttle. Also has more of a rumble sound to it, rather than the token, raspy sound you get from a standard x-pipe.

Took it out on an essential drive. It has not moved in almost a month between rain, SARS2 and my mom moving (truck is out for that). What a blast to get up on the freeway ... smoked the tires and got thumbs up from two different folks. Still smiling as I sit back down and return to working from home meetings.

Son and I took our vintage sport bikes out yesterday on an essential GTFO of the house ride too! Still fire up, run, ride, and stop like brand new! What a rush.

I had to move the Marauder forward a foot to unbury mine and pushed it back a foot when done if that counts?

Finally replaced all of the EATC bulbs with LEDs. Three have been burned out for a couple of years. It never really bothered me considering I set the temp to 72 back in ‘04...

You could say I don’t really have much of a fidgeting disorder as my pedals, seats, tilt, and temp controls were all set in ‘04 and left the hell alone!

Engine was cutting out at full throttle. I could ease into and it would be fine but felt underpowered. A/F was holding at 11 to 1 so I knew fuel wasn't the issue. Then I checked boost and it was only getting up to 7psi instead of the normal 14psi. Just as I suspected, one of the t-bolt clamps worked its way loose. Tightened it back up and all is good! I also installed a factory lower air dam under the radiator. The F.I.T. kit instructed to remove it, which the previous owner did. Was having issues with the temp getting higher than it should. Now with the air dam, temps stay nice and low while cruising!

Our previous governor and previous Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory publicly admitted the election process in North Carolina is rigged in recent times and not worth fighting. I switched to an independent shop last year and now he's closed and not answering texts for voicemails - bummer. My fallback is the local Ford dealer - ok for normal maintenance, state inspections, car cleanup, parts, etc., but useless for intricate work on older cars like Marauder and Mustang.

New TR6 plugs

My car is going in for its annual service next week. Getting power pedals repaired and check to see what has caused the return of the rough idle. Plugs were changed for the very first time last year to NGK TR6V upon recommendation of a Marauder Specialist who worked on Marauder in the past. Some stated they were probably too cold for my NA car w/tune. Compression was down to 150psi in #4 cylinder, 175psi on all other cylinders. Motor sounds fine at the tailpipes but I miss the cold smooth start and having to look at the tach to make sure Marauder is still running. Fuel mileage is still good - similar to my Mustang. No CELs and haven't checked for codes - shop stated there were no codes last time. Waiting to see if any other issues come to the fore.

Two weeks ago, the Marauder needed rear control arm bushings on the front end suspension. I come to find out that since the diameter of each end of the bushings were different on the OEM lower control arms & they were no longer available, I had no choice but to replace both lower control arms & used Carfixer's alignment specifications afterwards. The original ball joints were still surprisingly good.

This was actually yesterday but..... Still fighting early shifts when the car is warm. I have a spare coil that I was going to move from spot to spot because people here keep telling me that it is a coil. It has been in the same location for a while now with no change. I was going to move it to the next spot but instead took it out. I still believe that it is calculating load incorrectly, most likely from a vacuum issue or an incorrect vacuum reading. After putting back in the original coil I pulled the PCV valve, cleaned it and put it back in. I also noticed that the rubber piece that connect the PCV to the hard tube was not the most secure so I put zip ties on both ends.

I am not completely ready to call it fixed but I drove around for 20 minute and it shifted perfectly the entire time. If this turns out to be the fix I don't know if I should be glad it is fixed for little to no money or pissed that it took me this long to check the PCV. It normally starts acting up within 5 minutes of driving so I am optimistic.

Next up is to clean the goo off of the steering wheel controls.

Installed new headlights...broke a clip on the front grille when removing the passenger side headlight. Aggravating, but it isn't very noticeable.

Installed four new door striker bushings.

Now if I can just figure out the odd squeak coming from the front passenger side, I can move onto working on the truck.

Started it, changed oil & filter & readied it to drive (hopefully next week!).

Polished up my new 4" Megs tips & listened to the awesome new exhaust note.

Next need to give it a bath, its filthy!

Removed my column pod, have to do some custom work with it to relocate it as the AFR gauge is thick enough that the steering wheel rubs it when turning.

When I made my trip to Mo's & FL last November, my fuel gauge quit. Stuck on Full from Atlanta to Cocoa FL to home. So first thing after pulling out of storage I dropped the fuel hat and replaced sender. While I had it out I also installed an Aeromotive 340 fuel pump. Extremely easy job, miles of room, pulled from tank and it drops down between airbag and over-axle pipe. Piece of cake! :2thumbs:

One thing I did have trouble with, the fuel strainer that comes with the Aeromotive 340 is too big. When u slide the hat assembly in it hits the side of tank and won't let the assembly drop in place. Ordered OEM one from Rock Auto, installed it and the hat assembly dropped right in place

I had a problem with the senders on aftermarket hats, I installed two and the gauge was stuck on E and check engine light lit on both of them, drive Me nuts. Finally moved a new pump over to the old had and plugged it in, and it worked great! Strange how it's only a few wires to the damn thing and the aftermarket pumps worked fine, just the senders didn't.

I use the slimmer socks from either the 98-02 or the Aero bodies (can’t recall) on both the 340’s and they flow fine. Anyways they simply plugged right on just much smaller.

I’ve had one 340 for must be close to 10 years now that hums nice and quiet. The second one I added probably 5 years ago sounds like it’s got sand in it since birth but flows equally just as well as the first one.

Installed the stock hood to try and hush up the oh so annoying air rushing out of the Big Red and Tial valves.

HUGE difference! Like half or more. In fact I mostly hear the F1 gears meshing more than the air escaping now where I never heard the blower before really.

Also I ordered up some front Corvette calipers and pads to go with my brackets and SS lines I’ve had collecting dust for like three years or more now. Last up is to order the rotors and install. So maybe by 2022? [emoji6]

I’m just beyond lazy anymore.. I figured I’d purchase the stuff that isn’t so readily available or easily discontinued and the rest could wait.

The brakes have really started to pulsate in the last couple of years but with annual mileage +/- 1,000 anymore it’s funny to see just how long stuff can seem to last.

Replaced the not very old Interstate 850cca battery that wouldn't hold a charge with a Motorcraft 750cca in the JPB MM. I know they are both made by Johnson Controls, just hoping perhaps Ford makes them build batteries to a higher spec in order to put the Motorcraft name on. Interstate used to be a top shelf battery, but recently I've had a bunch that failed within 2-3 years out of a 6 or 7 year warranty. Tired of the pro-rate game. Ford says the Motorcraft has a 3 year replacement and then pro-rated for the rest of the time. We'll see.

Also gave the JPB MM a bath. Looks better, but I ran out of steam before I could detail spray it. Gettin' old. :geezer:

$187 at Amazon

HOLY CRAP Batman!!!

Looks like someone was sitting on one NOS for $91 on Ebay...GOT IT!

Now, do I need to modify it for future protection? Didn't I read something about upgrading the solder?

Unfortunately I had to wash it. First time since Louisville ‘18???

Got caught up in a freakin monsoon playing peekaboo and I can’t tolerate water spots..

Anyways, after receiving my new rotors and speed bleeders today I officially have all parts to do Zack and Jerry’s big brakes after three years or so of collecting parts LOL. Still need some caliper paint or perhaps a powder coating kit plus the will to want to wrench on it. I actually might get this done in the next year or so. Stay tuned! [emoji16]

Speed bleeders on the front, rears wrongly ordered..
New spark plugs
Cleaned the fuel filter canister

I took home 3rd Place for modified. Glad I took the trip to go. The car has only been driving since January this year so I'm happy with that!

Driving to work all week as our c rappy hurricane induced weather finally moved on last night. :cuke: Hoo Hoo!

The Marauders in the US are doing fine. This year however, due to the virus, Fords at Carlisle was a poor showing for the Marauders.
Hopefully, next June, the virus will be a thing of the past and we can get back to our car shows.
I have been taking my Mustang out for shows. We social distance, and wear masks.
In the past four weeks, I have attended four car shows with the '93 Mustang GT

Took it to a local cars and coffee organized thru TheChicagoGarage guys. Met a lot of super nice guys and was even all but forced to move my car around and line up with the Stangs for a photo op. I felt kinda weird about it but they insisted it was just as fast or even faster so go move it! Great guys. I even got a ride in an original right hand drive mini! SUPER bad ass! I’ve always loved these little things! Way more roomier than you’d ever expect! I actually seen this car 15-20 years ago closer to my house and lost sight of it. It turns out this guy bought it 10 years ago in my neck of the woods. Small world. Pun intended..

Hands were tied..

You should have seen him and the guy from Roush with their flashlights out looking all up under the dash and the undercarriage at my conversion. They were highly impressed!

The one time I truly didn’t want to answer a question. “How long did this take?” Knowing Roush had like three months to come up with a manual I bit my lip for a second but someone else spoke up and said “three weeks after work!” I felt good and bad at the same time because these guys were super cool and they were working on other stuff at the same time.

Vacuumed out both SB and JPB, also took a few to do the T too. Going to give JPB a bath tomorrow and do up the rubber. I need to do an interior detail as well. Engine detail at some point as well before the snow flies. Never ends! :(
